My family has lived in the Rocky Mountain region of Denver, Colorado for the last seventeen years. Although it would be hard to give up some of the conveniences of a large city, it’s our dream to one day live in a small mountain town. I’ve even drawn up the floor plans for our dream cabin.
My first attempt to write a novel was when I participated in the August 2012 Camp NaNoWriMo event. I didn’t finish. But most important, I didn’t give up. During NaNoWriMo, in November 2012, I wrote the rough draft of my first novel, The Fire-Pit, which is Book 1 of at least 4 of The Lodgepole Creek series. Since then, I’ve written a novella, The Set Up, and I’m about half-finished with a stand alone Christmas novel, UnScrooged, I’m also starting on Sheltered Hearts which is the Book 2 of The Lodgepole Creek Series. 2016 is going to be an exciting year for me personally, and I hope, for anyone who enjoys a good romance.
Built in downtime occurs naturally during the process of taking a book from a kernel of an idea to a finished product that is worth a reader’s time and money. Now, while books transition through beta readers, editing, cover design, and more, I work on the next book. Working on multiple books at once keeps me calm and productive during the times I can’t work on a specific work in progress (WIP). It ensures more books are on the way faster than if I only worked on a single book.
I enjoy office supply stores and office supplies, bookstores and libraries, music–this varies based on what I’m writing, cross-stitching–the image at the top of this page is of my current project, playing with our dogs, Molly and Meg, swimming, bike riding, kickball, dodgeball, camping, fishing, cooking, grilling, chocolate, and watching NFL football. Go Broncos!
